Developing applied arts students' attitudes toward Metaverse technology and its role in the educational process

Abstract

Metaverse technology has strongly stormed the field of education, as this technology relies on multi-sensory interactions with virtual environments, digital objects, and people. The research problem is summarized in the extent of students’ knowledge of metaverse technology and its various fields, especially in education. The research aims to identify the opinions of students of the Faculty of Applied Arts, Damietta University, about technology after introducing them to it and its various applications, and to know their opinions about its advantages and disadvantages in education. The descriptive analytical survey method was used. By holding seminars, creating electronic questionnaires, and collecting and analyzing data using the statistical program (SPSS 25). The research community consists of 300 students from various college departments and teams at the Faculty of Applied Arts, Damietta University, for the second semester of the academic year 2022/2023 AD. From the results of the research, we find that most students find that using metaverse technology in education has many advantages that are better than traditional methods, although there are some negatives. Among the research recommendations is the need for the state to adopt and train all specialists in the teaching profession on modern technologies, such as promoting the use of metaverse applications, the virtual world, and its various fields, such as the Internet.
