Abstract

The issue of preserving the environment and making good use of its resources has been at the top of the priorities of attention at the local and international levels, due to the negative effects left by the era of the revolution and the period that followed, which extended its impact on architectural thought in general and then on the design of contemporary housing. And perhaps we realize our urgent need to reconsider the design of the interior environment in which we live in terms of form and content, and the extent to which it is affected by Western colonial thought, whose effects still extend until now. Its incompatibility with our customs and traditions and does not achieve the values advocated by our religion. By reconsidering Islamic architecture and the concepts on which it is based and stemming from the correct Islamic thought (which seeks human comfort and happiness and respects the privacy of the individual besides preserving the environment and making good use of its resources) and by looking closely at what Islamic architecture has presented hundreds of years ago, we find that it has provided environmentally compatible living solutions that meet human needs, so we find that it has achieved the concept of sustainable architecture in its best form.
This research is an attempt to provide some design solutions and treatments for the internal space stemming from Islamic thought through reformulating the vocabulary of Islamic architecture in line with the development of lifestyles and the emergence of modern technologies in interior architecture, but in a form and content that is compatible with our environment.
