Abstract

Some may tend to the common belief that times of wars and major disasters diminish the role of art in confronting violence, while art historians and critics have a different opinion, saying: times of disasters coincide with major developments and milestones in art, and this can be seen when artists became more free to record their visions. Personality is far from what the religious-military authority presents.

The arts were used in the beginnings of humanity for purposes of documenting major events or as an alternative to the photographic camera in the modern era, in order to maintain the close relationships between conflicts and art beginning in prehistoric times.

And God Almighty said, In the Name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful: (And if they incline to peace, then incline to it and put your trust in God. Indeed, He is the Hearer, the Knower. (Surat Anfal 61)

Among the sayings of Jesus Christ, peace be upon him: “He who does not have a sword should sell his garment and buy a sword.” Christianity is a religion of peace and tolerance. What is meant by Jesus’ words here is spiritual war, not with flesh and blood, and he never meant fighting.
